Frequently Asked Questions

We grind stumps, grind deeper when needed, and remove root systems so your yard is usable again. If you want it gone and want it done right, we’re the veteran-owned team that shows up on time and cleans up.

Quick Answers

Straightforward answers to the questions people ask first.

What exactly do you do?

We remove tree stumps and their visible remnants using professional-grade grinders. We offer three levels of service: standard stump grinding (surface-level removal), (grind lower for planting or leveling), and root grinding (targeted removal of major root masses to stop regrowth and prepare for construction or landscaping).

Where do you serve?

We serve Houston and surrounding areas — residential yards, commercial sites, HOAs, and builders. If you’re within the greater Houston region, we’ll come to you.

Who are your customers?

Anyone who needs stumps removed — homeowners, landlords, businesses, contractors, property managers, and municipalities.

Are you insured and veteran-owned?

Yes. We’re a veteran-owned, insured, and safety-first operation. Expect disciplined crews, clear communication, and respect for your property.

Services & Process

Which service is right for you and exactly how we handle it.

What’s the difference between stump grinding, deep grinding, and root grinding?

- Stump Grinding (standard): Grinds the visible stump down about 2-6 inches below ground — fast and cost-effective for most yards.

- Deep Grinding: Grinds the stump 8–18 inches below grade for lower profiles, planting, or to clear the way for landscape features.

- Root Grinding: Targets large roots and root balls beyond the stump to prevent regrowth and prepare the area for construction or sod/planting.

What is the step-by-step process and how long does it take?

- Book: Free estimate by phone, text, or online.

- Prep: We arrive, confirm site access, remove small obstacles, and mark utilities (you should call 811 first if required).

- Grind: Run the grinder and remove the stump to the agreed depth — typical job time 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on size and type.

- Cleanup: We haul away large debris, return wood chips (optional), and leave the area broom-clean.

- Final: You get a completed job with before/after photos if requested.

What equipment do you use and will it damage my yard?

We use commercial stump grinders sized to the job (walk-behind to heavy self-propelled). Our crews protect lawns and hardscapes where feasible by using mats and careful routing. There will be temporary soil disturbance where the stump was — that’s normal and fixable with infill and topsoil.

Pricing, Estimates & Scheduling

Clear pricing logic so you know what to expect.

How much will it cost?

Pricing is based on stump diameter, location/access, depth requested, and root complexity. Typical ranges (estimate only):

- Small stumps (under 12" diameter): $75–$150

- Medium stumps (12"–24"): $150–$300

- Large stumps (24"+): $300+

Deep grinding and root grinding add to time and cost. Get an exact price by sending photos or scheduling a free on-site estimate. Minimum trip charges may apply depending on your distance from central Houston."

How do I book and what payment methods do you accept?

Book online, by text, or by phone. We offer same-day or next-day service when possible. We accept cash, debit/credit cards, and electronic payments. A small deposit may be requested for larger commercial jobs.

Safety, Permits & Yard Recovery

Everything you need to know before and after grinding.

Do I need a permit?

Most residential jobs don’t require permits, but some municipalities, HOAs, or commercial sites do. We’ll advise you during the quote and can coordinate paperwork or direct you to the proper local authority. Always check HOA rules first.

What happens after you grind the stump? Can you fill and plant?

After grinding we can:

- Leave wood chips for mulch (free) or haul them away for a small fee.

- Backfill with topsoil and compact for an even surface (available as an add-on).

- Prepare the site for sod, planting, patio, or concrete (choose deep or root grinding if construction is planned).

We recommend waiting a few weeks after grinding before planting directly over the grind unless you add fresh topsoil.

Guarantees & Who We Serve

Our promise and capabilities.

Do you guarantee your work? Do you handle commercial/large jobs?

Yes. We guarantee that the stump will be ground to the agreed depth and that we will clean up the site. If roots regrow because living roots were missed, we’ll come back to address it per the service agreement. We handle single-home stumps up to large commercial/lot clearing projects — submit photos and we’ll give a plan and quote.
